I ask my friends to share something they’ve been into recently; it’s a rotating cast of characters; don’t overthink it.

💬 Rachel Comey Barla boots
“I wear these five times a week November through February. They’re suitable for any kind of fall/winter weather: I’ve worn them through snow, rain, slush, everything. Once an extremely cool girl in a Paris airport walked over to me while I was wearing them and said, ‘Hey, we have the same boots!’ which pretty much made my month.” - Ava
💬 4th-gen Kpop Girl Groups in 2022
“I’ve always found Korean pop culture fascinating because Korean trends have extremely fast feedback loops. 2022 was a batshit crazy year for kpop girl groups in particular. Usually, if you follow the top few groups, you have a decent grasp of the space. However, 2022 had the debuts of NewJeans, Kep1er (see: Girls Planet 999), NMIXX, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, etc. All of these rookie groups had their own viral hit this year, adding to the already stacked talent from older 4th gen groups like ITZY, STAYC, aespa, (G)-IDLE, etc. And then, there’s still 3rd gen groups like BLACKPINK, TWICE (see: Sixteen), etc. I’ve been rattling my brain for how/why this explosion is happening now: Post-COVID boom? TikTok virality? Audition shows? I don’t have a concrete answer, but I love competition, so I’m curious to see how kpop girl group popularity pans out in 2023 with such a packed lineup.”

💬 18 oz Hydro Flask
“Let me tell you, the small Hydro Flask (18 oz) is a true miracle. A smaller size makes for easy and fast pours. It feels satisfying in your hand and retains temperature well (because you’ll likely finish the bottle before it changes temperature). Finally, the timely depletion means a water bottle refill opportunity is never far away, which makes for an excellent cadence of water bottle refill breaks.” - Austin
wait i loved this so much.
